Death of Wagga Wagga toddler being treated as suspicious

The death of a toddler at a home in NSW's Riverina region is being treated as suspicious.

The 15-month-old boy was found unresponsive in a home on Callaghan Street, Ashmont, just after 10.45am on Sunday, January 13.

NSW Ambulance paramedics performed CPR at the scene, before taking to the boy to Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital where he was declared deceased.

Officers established a crime scene at the home, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

NSW Police today told nine.com.au they are treating the young boy's death as a possible homicide after the post mortem exam was concluded.

Detectives from Riverina Police District have established Strike Force Corer to investigate, and they are looking at how the boy sustained his injuries.
