NSW mum disqualified after drink driving

A NSW mother whose five-month-old baby boy was with her when when she drunkenly crashed into another vehicle may serve her prison term at home.

Police say the mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was more than four times over the legal limit when she collided with another vehicle at Freemans Reach, northwest of Sydney, just before midnight on April 18.

Her baby was a passenger in the car at the time of the collision but fortunately no-one was injured.

The 27-year-old was arrested and taken to Windsor Police Station where a subsequent breath analysis allegedly returned a reading of 0.253, police said.

After pleading guilty to high-range drink driving, the mother was disqualified from driving for nine months and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment at Windsor Local Court this week.

She has been referred for a Home Detention Assessment, which means she may serve the term in the community rather than in jail.
