NSW man takes delivery truck, hits cop car

A man has allegedly stolen a supermarket delivery truck before ramming a police car and going on the run on the NSW South Coast.

Police say the 38-year-old threatened a truck driver in Nowra about 3.20pm on Saturday and drove away from the scene.

It is alleged an officer attempted to stop the truck in another Nowra street but the man allegedly rammed the police vehicle and drove away.

A police pursuit had to be terminated when the driver allegedly travelled on the wrong side of the road.

Police say the truck was found dumped a short time later and arrested the man after he allegedly ran into a home and hid in a bedroom upstairs.

He has been charged with numerous offences, including robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail and will appear in Nowra Local Court on April 21.
