NSW man stabbed after intervening in fight

A man has been stabbed while trying to stop a woman being attacked outside an RSL club on the NSW Central Coast.

Police say the 51-year-old intervened when he saw a man assaulting the woman outside the club at Ettalong Beach late on Sunday night.

He was stabbed before security officers came to the rescue, police say.

The injured man was taken to Gosford Hospital while the 39-year-old attacker was charged with reckless wounding and will appear at Gosford Local Court on Monday.

The older man remains in hospital for monitoring, police said.
