NSW man in court over baby bashing

A man will face court on Saturday after a baby suffered serious head injuries in Sydney's west on Wednesday afternoon.

The nine-month-old boy is in a critical but stable condition fighting for his life in Westmead Children's Hospital.

Staff at the hospital were reportedly told the boy had been dropped at his Lalor Park home.

A crime scene was established at the home and the child abuse squad was called in.

On Friday night a 31-year-old man, believed to be the partner of the child's mother, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Court on Saturday.
