NSW man fires rifle at wife during fight

A husband is accused of firing a rifle at his wife during a fight and police say they also found an AK-47 in their home in central NSW.

A 65-year-old man fired a .223 calibre rifle into a room where his 61-year-old wife was, during an argument at their Coonabarabran home on Monday night, police said.

A number of rifles registered to the husband, including an AK-47 assault rifle, were seized from the home, police said.

The man's been charged with a string of offences including intimidation and firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure a person.

He was bail refused and is expected to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Tuesday.
