NSW man dies after crashing into a tree

A man has died after his car left the road and smashed into a tree on the NSW mid north coast.

The 24-year-old driver died at the scene at Wards River, near the Great Lakes, late Thursday, while his two passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital.
