A man has been charged after a nine-year investigation targeting organised mortgage fraud across NSW.

The 41-year-old man was arrested in Katoomba on Monday after helping organise a $460,000 home loan application using false documents, police said.

The man is allegedly part of an organised syndicate within the finance industry.
