NSW horror fan stabbing trial continues

The trial of a horror movie fan accused of the attempted stabbing murder of an elderly Sydney cabbie will continue on Tuesday.

Neal Kent, 72, survived after being allegedly stabbed 13 times by Luke Woods, 36, but was left with neck, head and shoulder wounds.

Woods' trial at the Downing Centre District Court heard on Monday he felt like murdering someone after spending a day watching one horror film after another.

Woods said he used a large kitchen knife, which he nicknamed Stanley and kept under his pillow, to stab Mr Kent on December 30, 2013.

He has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder but has admitted to a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The judge-alone trial continues.
