NSW govt's $100m for Central Coast roads

The Baird government has announced plans to spend $100 million upgrading a stretch of Central Coast highway just two months out from the NSW poll.

Extra lanes will be added to a 1.6km stretch of the Pacific Highway at Ourimbah, 10km north of Gosford, Premier Mike Baird announced on Thursday.

The road lies in the electorate of The Entrance, one of several in the region that will not be recontested by sitting Liberal members at the March 28 election.

Local member Chris Spence announced last June he would not contest his seat after he was named in an ICAC inquiry into alleged Liberal Party slush funds.

He moved to the crossbench in February.

The Liberal Party lost the seats of Newcastle and Charlestown in November by-elections which were prompted when sitting members quit parliament amid allegations they accepted banned donations.

The Biard government wants to privatise 49 per cent of NSW's electricity "poles and wires" to bankroll $20 billion in infrastructure upgrades.
