NSW father and 'camo attacker' behind bars

A NSW father-of-three accused of dressing in a camouflage suit to sexually assault a schoolgirl will remain behind bars for the next two months while the case against him is prepared.

Troy Stephen Johnson, 31, was arrested last week following a three-month police investigation.

It's alleged he wore a camouflage outfit, or ghillie suit, when he forced a 12-year-old girl into the bushes in Gosford and sexually assaulted her at knifepoint on the morning of May 15 as she walked to school.

He's also been charged with a further four offences relating to a second complainant, an 11-year-old, including an indecent assault on Christmas Day and grooming between New Year's Day and late June.

The 31-year-old didn't appear in Gosford Local Court on Monday where his case was briefly mentioned.

Johnson consented to a forensic order which will allow detectives to collect samples of his DNA as they prepare the prosecution case.

The matter is expected to return to Gosford Local Court on October 27.
