NSW farmer faces two extra charges

The man accused of the shooting murder of environment officer Glen Turner in northern NSW will remain behind bars after being refused bail.

Ian Robert Turnbull has also been charged with two extra offences in relation to another person, who is believed to have been with Mr Turner at the time of the killing on July 29.

The 79-year-old farmer appeared at Moree Local Court on Tuesday after being charged with the murder of Mr Turner on a property in Croppa Creek, north of Moree.

The body of the 51-year-old senior compliance officer and father of two was found on the property by police just before 6pm and Turnbull was arrested five hours later at a nearby property.

Turnbull applied for bail but it was refused.

Two further charges against him were also presented to the court.

His matter will return to court in September.
