NSW e-vote system taken down

The NSW online voting system iVote is back on board after an error on the upper house ballot paper forced its temporary suspension.

But NSW Electoral Commission spokesman Richard Carroll told AAP he is confident none of the 19,000 people who cast their votes before the glitch was discovered on Tuesday morning was adversely affected.

The display error related to above-the-line voting options for people using the online system iVote, which is open to people who have a disability or are vision-impaired, live more than 20km from a polling place, or will be out of NSW on March 28.

"We're confident that nobody's intention to vote has been affected," Mr Carroll said.

A message posted on the iVote site on Tuesday afternoon said: "Voting has restarted on the iVote system. The iVote Legislative Council ballot paper now correctly shows group voting squares for Groups B and C."

Any iVote user who is concerned can check their vote, and re-vote if they wish, Mr Carroll added.

About 50,000 people have voted since pre-polling opened on Monday.
