Man drowns, another critical after being pulled from water at NSW beach
A man has died and another is in a critical condition after they were pulled from the water at a NSW beach this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to reports of two swimmers in distress at Zenith Beach near Shoal Bay in Port Stephens about 2.45pm today.
Friends of the men pulled them from the water before members of the public and local police performed CPR on the pair until paramedics arrived.

A 24-year-old man couldn't be revived and died at the scene.
A 25-year-old man received treatment at the beach before being rushed to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
The two men haven't been formally identified.
Zenith Beach, which is located in the popular Tomaree National Park, is not patrolled by surf lifesavers.
