A NSW doctor has been charged with sexually assaulting six female patients.

The women, aged between 24 and 55, were allegedly sexually and indecently assaulted by a male doctor during consultations at a specialist clinic in Watt Street, Newcastle.

The allegations relate to a 10-year period between 2003 and 2012.

A 63-year-old man was arrested on Thursday and charged with a string of offences, police said.

Documents and a computer were also seized from the clinic on Thursday.

Detective Acting Inspector Keith Price said a strike force was established after a number of victims came forward.

Officers are investigating whether there could be more victims who have not yet come forward.

"I'd ask if (former patients) have any concerns at all that they at least contact police to discuss it," Det Insp Price told AAP.

The man has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Newcastle Local Court next month.
