NSW cop faces indecency sentence

A NSW policeman who groped the breast of a junior colleague told her she "didn't have a choice" after she refused to go out with him.

Senior Constable Nasser Dib, 30, in 2013 tried twice to kiss a female probationary constable and grabbed her buttocks.

Later the same day, while driving from Oatley to Hurstville Police Station, Dib slid his hand underneath her vest and groped her breast.

Dib was suspended from the police force after being charged with two counts of committing an act of indecency.

Dib's lawyer Avni Djemal asked Downing Centre Local Court Magistrate Joanne Keogh to deal with his client with a bond during a sentence hearing on Friday.

Mr Djemal said Dib suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and since coming to court had been subjected to media coverage "outside of what an ordinary citizen would have".

"Had his PTSD been diagnosed (earlier)... possibly then the events ... may never have happened," he said.

The prosecution opposed sentencing Dib with a bond.

DPP lawyer Andrew Wright told the court Dib had subjected his victim to coercion and psychological control.

Dib, he said, made persistent inappropriate comments to her.

During a boat cruise Dib asked "why don't we throw your fiancé overboard?"

And when he asked her out but was rejected, he said: "It's not an option for you. You don't have a choice."

Dib pleaded guilty a day after six other indecent assault charges were withdrawn.

Ms Keogh told the court she was unlikely to dismiss Dib without recording a conviction, one of several ways Mr Djemal suggested dealing with the case.

Ms Keogh will sentence Dib on March 6.
