In the central west, a grassfire was under control near Mandurama.

The large St Ivan fire east of Dunedoo and a blaze near Mudgee are contained.

In total, 87 fires are burning.

Carwoola: 15 properties believed destroyed

St Ivan: 34 homes, a church, community hall and 120 outbuildings destroyed, 10 homes damaged

Port Macquarie region: six homes destroyed, three damaged

Dondingalong: two homes destroyed

Boggabri: one home destroyed

WARNINGS

A severe fire danger alert for the Southern Ranges, Central Ranges and Lower Central West Plains regions on Friday and North Western district on Saturday.

Total fire bans for the Lower Central West Plains, Central Ranges, Southern Slopes, Southern Ranges and Monaro Alpine.

Hot, dry and windy conditions expected through Friday evening over the Southern and Central Ranges and other parts of the Central West.

Conditions to shift to the northwest on Saturday.
