NRL player May denies sex tape charges

Penrith NRL player Tyrone May has pleaded not guilty to multiple allegations he recorded and distributed sex tapes.

The five-eighth was excused from appearing at Penrith Local Court on Monday as his lawyer Samir Banga entered pleas of not guilty to all four charges.

Police allege May filmed two women without their knowledge while they engaged in sexual acts on separate occasions in Coffs Harbour and Kingswood, in Sydney's west, in 2018.

Both women say they were unaware they were being filmed and did not consent to the recording or its distribution, police say.

A three-day hearing is now expected to be set at a later date.

May has not played a game this season after being stood down under the NRL's controversial "no fault" policy for serious criminal charges.

He was initially charged in March after presenting to police after the release of the sex tapes on the internet.
