Murderer behind bars after sentencing

Daniel Jack Kelsall has spent the night behind bars after being sentenced over the murder of Sydney businessman Morgan Huxley.

The 22-year-old was on Wednesday sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in the NSW Supreme Court over what was described by Justice Robert Allan Hulme as a "chilling case of murder."

Kelsall stalked and indecently assaulted Huxley, 31, before stabbing him more than 20 times in his north Sydney flat on September 8, 2013.

In March a Supreme Court jury found the former kitchen hand guilty of murder after about three hours of deliberations.

His total maximum sentence is 40 years and three months, meaning Kelsall will be eligible for parole in January 2044.
