Ryan Foster's body was found at the bottom of a cliff in Sydney.

The mother of a man who was found dead at the bottom of a cliff on Sydney's northern beaches has made an impassioned plea for those with information to come forward.

Lisa Easson said she needed "closure" after the body of her son Ryan Foster, 26, was found at Careel Headland Reserve on Saturday morning.

"Please anyone that knows anything I need more closure on what happened to my boy," the distraught mother wrote on Facebook on Monday.

While police believe Mr Foster fell from the cliff by accident, they understand he was with two men shortly before he died.

Officers have spoken to one of the men but have appealed for the second man to come forward.

They say he was last seen in a light green hatchback.

Tributes from friends have poured in on social media for the Avalon surfer, nicknamed "Rizza".

"RIP Rizza. You will be missed by so many," one friend posted, while another wrote, "Such a tragic end to a wonderful young man's life".
