Mike Baird rides high in NSW poll

A new poll has revealed NSW Premier Mike Baird's popularity has increased, despite the ensnaring of 10 Liberal MPs including former premier Barry O'Farrell at the Independent Commission against Corruption.

A Galaxy Daily Telegraph poll has shown voter preference for Mr Baird as premier on 49 per cent, up six points since May, over opposition leader John Robertson's 18 per cent.

A third of respondents said they were "uncommitted" to Mr Robertson as opposition leader.

The coalition leads Labor by 56 per cent to 44 per cent on a two-party preferred basis.

The poll of 938 voters taken on Wednesday and Thursday night found the primary vote for the coalition was up 1 per cent since August, on 46 per cent.

Primary support for Labor fell 1 per cent at 34 per cent, while the Greens were on 11 per cent and others/independents on 9 per cent.

But the numbers were lower than Mr O'Farrell's two-party preferred result of 64.2 per cent at the 2011 election.

If an election were held now, the government would lose 14 seats in the 8 per cent swing since Mr O'Farrell came to power.
