Man charged with DV murder after eight-month investigation into woman’s death

A man has been charged with the domestic violence murder of 31-year-old Megan Tangye, eight months after she was found dead in a Port Macquarie apartment, on the NSW Mid-North Coast.

The 47-year-old man was arrested about 6.30am on Monday on a boat moored in the Hastings River near Westport Park.

The 31-year-old has since been identified as Port Macquarie woman, Megan Tangye.

Police, including homicide detectives and Marine Area Command officers, boarded the vessel, while Port Macquarie Hastings Council rangers seized a dog that was on board.

The man was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station and charged with domestic violence-related murder and domestic violence-related assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in court on Tuesday.

It follows a long investigation into Tangye’s death in December.

The 31-year-old was found with multiple severe injuries by emergency services in a unit on Gore Street about 11.40am on December 27, 2025.

She was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital but died a short time later.
