Man stable after Sydney dirt bike fall

A man enjoying a family gathering on Mothers' Day has been airlifted to hospital after falling from his dirt bike in Sydney's north west.

A 58-year-old man was riding on a semi-rural property at South Maroota when he fell on Sunday afternoon.

CareFlight, ambulance and police arrived and the injured man was treated for serious, but not life threatening head and chest injuries.

CareFlight says in a statement the man's injuries would have been worse, but for the helmet and protective clothing he was wearing.

He was flown to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
