A 55-year-old man has been repeatedly stabbed during a domestic dispute that unfolded in front of police in the NSW Riverina region.
Officers visited the man's Griffith property early on Wednesday after being told of concerns about the welfare a 29-year-old, but he was then attacked by the younger man when he went inside to look for a photograph, police said.
The 55-year-old suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to Griffith Base Hospital in a stable condition, while the younger man was taken to a local police station for questioning.
