Man stabbed, robbed at Sydney bus stop

A 35-year-old man has been stabbed in the buttocks and had his bumbag stolen during a robbery at a bus stop on Parramatta Road in Sydney's inner west.

Police were called to the bus stop near the intersection of Frederick Street at Ashfield at 1.15am on Monday finding the injured man, who was treated by paramedics and sent to hospital in a stable condition.

NSW police would like to speak to a man and a woman, understood to be armed with knives, over the incident.

The man's described as being in his 40s, of Caucasian appearance with a skinny build and short light brown hair and blue eyes. He was also missing some teeth and had a tattoo on his right arm, police say.

The woman is described as being in her 30s and of Caucasian appearance and wearing white clothing.
