Man's body recovered from swamp

The body of a 75-year-old man who went missing from his home has been recovered from a swamp in NSW's Hunter region.
Police say the man was last seen at his home in Shortland at 8.30pm on Thursday.
On Friday evening police received reports that a body had been spotted in a mangrove swamp near Ash Island in Hexham.

With the assistance of an SES boat, police retrieved the body from the swamp around 10pm and it was later identified as that of the missing man.
"Although a post mortem will determine the exact cause of the man's death, early investigations suggest there are no suspicious circumstances," police said in a statement.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
