Man charged after body found in NSW unit

A 38-year-old man will face court charged with making death threats after a man's body was found in a unit in Sydney's southwest.

Police were called to the unit block on Tower Street in Panania at about 7.30pm on Saturday to find the body of the 50-year-old man.

Initial inquiries suggest he may have been dead for a number of days, police said.

A crime scene was set up and police later arrested the 38-year-old and took him to Bankstown Police Station.

He was charged with using a carriage service to threaten to kill but police said he has "not been implicated in the death of the man at this stage".

The man, also from Tower Street in Panania, will face Bankstown Local Court on February 18.
