Man refused bail over fatal Sydney crash
A disqualified driver who was allegedly found hiding in a front yard after fleeing a fatal crash has been refused bail.
Police say Jordan Conte, 20, fled the scene of the crash at Prestons in Sydney's southwest on December 21 after his four-wheel-drive collided with a car at an intersection.
A 57-year-old woman was rushed to Liverpool Hospital, where she died.
Her husband, 55, was taken to the hospital suffering from shock.
Police searched the streets surrounding the crash, and Conte was allegedly discovered by a resident who saw him hiding in the front yard of a house.
His charges include dangerous driving occasioning death, driving recklessly, failing to stop and assist after impact causing death and driving while disqualified.
He is also accused of not stopping at a red light and driving without headlights on.
The 20-year-old was refused bail when he appeared at Liverpool Local Court on Thursday.
He is due to return to court in April.
