Alleged drone user charged with kill plot offences in Sydney

A man accused of operating a drone to conduct surveillance has been charged with conspiring to murder a man in Sydney’s south-west.

On September 2, Joshua Macdonald, an innocent bystander, was gunned down in a Merrylands driveway in what police said was a mistaken identity shooting.

At about 5.30am on September 11, police arrested two men, aged 18 and 19, in West Hoxton.

They were charged and remain before the courts.

Sydney high school teacher Ashleigh Ann Seeney, 28, has also been charged with multiple offences including being an accessory after the fact to murder and participating in a criminal group.

She also remains before the courts.

Yesterday, police arrested an 18-year-old man in Silverwater.

He has since been charged with conspiracy to murder, participating in a criminal group, possessing a criminal-linked encrypted device, and failing to operate an unmanned aircraft within visual line of sight.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in court today.

Police will allege the man operated a drone to conduct surveillance as part of an alleged conspiracy to murder a man.

The investigation is ongoing.
