Body of drowned man who tried to save boy pulled from NSW river

The body of a man who went to the aid of a nine-year-old boy in NSW's Lachlan River has been found.
The 38-year-old man drowned while trying to save the young boy who was struggling in the water at Wyangala Dam, about 40km east of Cowra, on Friday evening.
An unsuccessful search was launched after he slipped below the surface of the water and didn't return.

The boy was rescued by a kayaker.
Police divers returned to the water on Saturday morning as local police and the State Emergency Service scoured the surrounding area.
The unidentified man's body was found about 1pm.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
