Man killed by semi-trailer on motorway

A man walking on a major NSW motorway has died after being hit by a semi-trailer.
The 39-year-old man died at the scene after being hit in lane one of the M1 by the semi-trailer on Thursday evening at West Wallsend.
Road closures were in place for a number of hours and police are investigating the fatal crash.
