Man in court over scooter attack
A man accused of bashing an older man over the head with a scooter will remain behind bars after appearing in court.
Dennis Pangarli, 21, was allegedly embroiled in an argument with a woman, also 21, in Marrickville in Sydney's west on Saturday when a 55-year-old man intervened.
Police say Pangarli shouted at him before hitting him in the face with a scooter.
When the 55-year-old fell to the ground, Pangarli allegedly continued walking before throwing the scooter into the front yard of a nearby house.
The 55-year-old man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Pangarli, who has been charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm, appeared at Newtown Local Court on Monday.
He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused with the matter set to return to the same court on Thursday.
