Man in court after Central Coast stabbing

A 20-year-old man charged with the stabbing murder of a NSW Central Coast footballer will remain behind bars.

Bradley James Brooks was arrested on Monday night, a day after a late-night confrontation in Toukley that left 28-year-old Greg Gibbins dead.

Mr Gibbins had left The Beachcomber Hotel around midnight on Sunday and headed to a nearby pizza shop.

He was standing outside the eatery when he was stabbed in the chest and later died in hospital.

Detectives arrested Brooks at a home in nearby Halekulani and charged him with murder.

He did not apply for bail in Wyong Local Court on Tuesday and the case was adjourned until next month.

Mr Gibbins, a car spray painter and Wyong Roos rugby league hooker, has been remembered as a quite and unassuming man who was loved among his footy peers.

Another man, 25, was also stabbed in the confrontation and remains in hospital undergoing surgery.
