Man hit with hammer in 20-man Sydney brawl

A man has been taken to hospital after being struck in the head with a hammer during a mass brawl in central Sydney.

Police attended the incident on Dixon Street at around 12.40am on Tuesday, following reports around 20 people were involved in a fight.

The injured man was treated at the scene before being taken to St Vincent's Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Police are continuing to conduct inquiries but have appealed for witnesses.
