A man has been stabbed and left on a western Sydney footpath.

Police say they found the 23-year-old man with an upper body stab wound at Colyton about 6.45pm on Tuesday.

He's been taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A crime scene has been established and police have appealed for more information about a silver car that was seen leaving the area after the stabbing.

The incident follows the death of a man who was viciously stabbed and left to die on a footpath in another part of Sydney's west on Sunday.

Police believe 35-year-old Tu Luong was the victim of an organised crime syndicate when he was attacked by four armed men and left to die in Fairfield East.
