A Queensland man has been extradited to NSW and charged with murdering William Chaplin, who vanished nearly a decade ago.

Mr Chaplin was 25 when he was last seen in Gerogery, north of the border town of Albury, in May 2010.

Detectives arrested a 25-year-old man in Townsville on Thursday morning and were granted permission to extradite him on Friday.
