Man drowns at beach near Newcastle

A man has drowned at a beach south of Newcastle.

The 44-year-old Indian man was swimming with friends at Frazer Beach on Saturday afternoon.

A friend later found him face down in the water and dragged him onto the sand.

A surfer and lifeguard carried out CPR but the man couldn't be revived.
