Man dies in Port Stephens car crash

A man has died after his car crashed into a tree in the NSW Hunter region.

Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway in Port Stephens after 11am on Tuesday following reports a car had left the road and hit a tree, NSW Police said in a statement.

The driver, believed to be in his 20s, died at the scene, while his female passenger, also believed to be in her 20s, was taken to John Hunter Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
