Investigation after fatal NSW plane crash

Specialist crash investigators from Queensland and Canberra are on their way to a rural NSW property where a light aircraft went down with no survivors.

Emergency crews found the body of a man in the wreckage of the plane at Wanganella, north of Deniliquin, about 11am on Wednesday.

Police say he was the sole occupant of the aircraft.

Investigations into the crash are continuing.

Recreational Aviation Australia (RAA) has sent two investigators to the crash site, near the NSW-Victorian border.

"They'll be there first thing in the morning," chief executive Michael Linke told AAP.

Mr Linke said the aircraft was registered to the RAA and the pilot was one of the aviation body's members, but details about the plane involved or the man's flying history were still "sketchy".

Investigators are expected to scour logbooks, take photographs and review the operating history of the wrecked aircraft.
