Man found lying on floor as fire ravages Sydney home

A man has died after a fire broke out on the second storey of his home in south-western Sydney.

At 11am, firefighters were called to the home on Sheather Place, Campbelltown, after a call alerting them to the house being well alight.

"Firefighters entered the house and removed a male who was found on the floor," a NSW Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said.

Despite attempting CPR, the man died.

Firefighters managed to control the fire quickly and police and fire investigators are now at the house to determine the cause of the blaze.

The spokeswoman was unable to say whether the fire was linked to the storm emergency battering the state.
