Man dies after car crash in regional NSW

A man has died in hospital after a single-car crash in the NSW southern tablelands on Saturday morning.

The 40-year-old was driving alone along the Hume Highway, about 15km northwest of Yass, when his Mistubishi Lancer hit a tree at about 7.30am.

Witnesses came to the man's aid before he was taken by paramedics to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition.

The man died from his injuries on Sunday.

Investigators are examining the crash and will prepare a report for the coroner.
