Man critical after Bathurst assault

A man has suffered head, abdomen and leg injuries in a vicious assault at a home in central west NSW.

Police found the 48-year-old when they arrived on the scene in Bathurst on Wednesday night.

He was initially taken to Bathurst Hospital, but later airlifted to a hospital in Sydney in a critical condition.

Police are investigating what happened to the man, and believe the incident occurred sometime between 3pm and 5pm.
