Man charged over Wollongong attack

A man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm after another man was hit on the head from behind in the NSW city of Wollongong.

Police say the 27-year-old victim was struck as he stood on the street after leaving a bar in North Wollongoing at about 10pm on Sunday.

He was taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.

Police a short time later arrested a 23-year-old man who has been charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm to appear at Wollongong Local Court on May 9.
