Man charged over road rage in Sydney CBD

A man has been charged over the alleged assault of a taxi driver in central Sydney during what is believed to be a road rage incident.

The cabbie, 36, was changing lanes on Market Street in the city on Monday evening when he became involved in an argument with a van driver. When the vehicles stopped at a red light, the van driver allegedly jumped on the bonnet of the taxi and smashed the windscreen before punching the driver through his window. Members of the public intervened and the van driver drove off.

The driver later presented himself at a Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with assault and malicious damage. He was bailed to appear in Mt Druitt Local Court on September 19.
