Man charged over NSW indecent assault

A man has been charged after allegedly indecently attacking a woman in a Sydney street before assaulting two police officers.

Police say the man, 40, grabbed a 33-year-old woman by the wrists in Emmett St, Crows Nest, in Sydney's north, on Friday afternoon, pushed her on to a fence and indecently assaulted her before fleeing.

A passer-by had gone to the woman's aid, while an off-duty police officer apprehended the man a short time later.

The man was taken to North Sydney Police Station, where he allegedly assaulted two officers.

He was to appear in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
