Man charged over high-speed police pursuit

A 47-year-old man has lost his licence after leading police on a high-speed pursuit that reached speeds of over 200kph.

Police arrested the man near Sutton Forrest in the NSW Southern Highlands after initially spotting him driving at 146kph on the Hume Highway, near Mittagong.

Police allege the man drove dangerously and used the breakdown lane to overtake other vehicles during the chase.

The man has been charged with engaging in a police pursuit, driving in a dangerous manner, exceed the speed limit by over 30km/h, and refusal to submit to breath analysis.
