Man charged over fatal NSW hit and run

A man accused of driving drunk and unlicensed in an unregistered car before killing a pedestrian in an alleged hit and run is set to face a NSW court.

It's alleged the man fled after hitting a 60-year-old man at about 10.45pm on Saturday, March 5, at Inverell in northern NSW.

The pedestrian later died in hospital.

Police say the driver's car was found a short distance away and seized for forensic testing.

A 45-year-old man has been charged with a string of offences including dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death, driving while disqualified and driving under the influence of alcohol.

He's been refused bail to face Moree Local Court on Thursday.
