Handmade ‘military-style’ bombs allegedly found in NSW home

Specialist police were rushed to a home in the regional city of Wagga Wagga in southern NSW after a search warrant allegedly uncovered homemade bombs.

At about 8am last Thursday, police stopped and searched a 30-year-old man in the city, allegedly seizing a small amount of cocaine and MDMA.

He was arrested at the scene.

Police then executed a search warrant at a home where they allegedly found two improvised explosive devices.

Bomb disposal police attended the scene and processed the devices, before declaring the location safe.

The search resumed, with officers allegedly seizing ammunition, a privately-made “slam gun”, BB pellets, cannabis seeds, and two vials of testosterone.

The 30-year-old arrested that morning has been charged with 16 offences, including two counts of making a “military-style” weapon without a permit.

He has also been charged with multiple drug and weapon offences, as well as breaching an AVO.

He was refused bail in court on Friday and will next appear on October 21.
