Bomb found at NSW home after family feud

A 26-year-old man involved in a dispute with his sister allegedly tried to flee Australia after leaving a makeshift bomb at a Sydney house.

Officers were called to a house in the western Sydney suburb of Bringelly on Monday after an occupant found a suspicious package which turned out to be a makeshift bomb.

It was forensically examined and rendered safe.

Police say the incident is not terror-related. AAP understands it involves a family dispute between a brother and his sister.

Penrith man Jacob Woodruff was arrested at Sydney Airport on Thursday night after he was denied entry into Singapore.

He was charged with placing an explosive near a building with intent to cause harm and making an explosive with intent to injure.

Woodruff was refused bail at Central Local Court on Friday and will next appear at Liverpool Local Court on January 22.
