Man charged after allegedly choking and detaining partner

A man has been charged following a 12-hour ordeal in which he allegedly choked and detained his partner.
Police were yesterday called to a unit in Kurri Kurri in the NSW Hunter region at 8pm.
A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

It’s alleged the man assaulted, choked and detained his 39-year-old female partner over a period of 12 hours.
The woman sustained several injuries, including bruising on her body, head and neck.
The man was charged with 10 offences including contravening an AVO, two counts of intentionally choking a person with recklessness and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear at court today.
